Dermatology Associates of Ithaca
Dermatology Associates of Ithaca’s office renovation transformed an existing office building into a state-of-the-art dermatology facility with a light-filled, spacious floor plan surrounding an interior garden courtyard. There is a custom designed reception desk with millwork throughout the project. The plan provides natural light and visibility for staff to oversee the exam rooms while still maintaining privacy. The use of patterned/ acid-etched glass and lighting to enhance and delineate spaces within an open environment.
Dermatology Associates of Ithaca, having grown the practice since being acquired in 2012, was anxious to find a new, more spacious home that reflected the owner, Dr. Josephine McAllister’s, clean and modern aesthetic sensibilities and provide the space that the practice now required.

Dr. McAllister had a goal to create a space that felt inviting, clean, bright, pristine, and spa-like with views out to nature. She was interested in incorporating a healing garden to support her state-of-the-art dermatology practice, integrating nature with the building. There was a strong desire for abundant natural light while maintaining patient privacy and patient flow, allowing the staff to manage the patient experience efficiently. It was also essential for the space to not feel institutional but rather evoke a spa environment.
